This short-term program is offered for international students who want to improve their English language communication skills, while also learning about American culture. Students can choose to study in this program , or easily transition to the semester-long Intensive English Program afterwards (Summer options only).
Please note: The Winter Boost option requires concurrent enrollment in the Spring Intensive English Program (IEP). Students enrolling in this option will continue to the Spring IEP.
Students will study topics such as Arts & Culture, Travel & Sightseeing, Shopping & Dining, and Education in the US, where they learn the skills below.
- Understanding of American culture
- Vocabulary skills
- Presentation skills
- Communication strategies
- Skills in grammar forms and how to utilize them in writing and speaking
- Paragraph and essay writing
- Reading skills and comprehension
- Summer 1: 23 hours of instructions per week for 3 weeks
- Summer 2: 23 hours of instructions per week for 3 weeks
- All classes are on the CSULB university campus

- Our optional Conversation Lab gives students the opportunity to meet with, interact with, and make friends with fluent speakers of English. Conversation Partners are local CSULB university students dedicated to helping our students improve their conversation skills.
*Homework Lab
- Our optional Homework Lab gives students the opportunity to meet with a tutor one-on-one. Students can ask questions about and receive guidance on any of their classes or assignments.
