CSULB GLP Student Faraz Bhatti Named A PSR Student of the Year

CITT congratulates Faraz Bhatti, Global Logistics Professional (GLP) program student from CSULB’s College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPaCE), for winning the Pacific Southwest Region (PSR) University Transportation Center (UTC) Student of the Year Award in the category of Professional or Non-Degree Programs. Bhatti’s deep commitment to the GLP program and his own professional goals have allowed him to advance within the transportation industry while continuing his education.

“Faraz has distinguished himself as a student in the program,” said Dr. Tom O’Brien, Executive Director at CSULB’s Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT). “His commitment to both the program and his own professional development have yielded results. Securing not only an entry-level position in a new industry, but a second position with additional responsibilities in such a short amount of time, is indicative of his initiative and hard work.”
Bhatti’s field of interest is in logistics and supply chain management. In early 2020, he was hired as a logistics associate at Roche Bobois, a company that designs and retails high-end furniture and home accessories. He recently accepted an opportunity as a logistics coordinator with ZPMC, the largest crane manufacturer in the world.
The PSR UTC established a new series of awards in 2019, intended to recognize exceptional students for strong research and academic performance, including those in non-degree, community college, and professional development programs.
“Building capacity for the future transportation workforce will require not only traditional degree programs, but [also] programs that allow students to take advantage of lifelong learning opportunities.” Dr. O’Brien said. “The new PSR Student of the Year category for professional and non-degree programs allows us to recognize and celebrate the success of these students as well.”
With a 23-year history in the trade and transportation industry, CITT’s Global Logistics Professional (GLP) program has provided training critical for the logistics and supply chain workforce.
