Whether it’s for celebration, education, corporation, or association, every event requires a budget. The complex task of identifying costs and accurately projecting them is critical to the financial control and ultimate success of each event. This course is the backbone of event planning, and will provide you with the tools to identify and manage expenses and, if appropriate, income. How to establish a budget
Defining cost centers
Determining break-even points and setting registration fees
Cost-saving measures and identifying where additional funding may be acquired
Choosing the right location and type of venue can make or break your event. Sophisticated attendees may expect a gourmet experience on a "small potatoes" budget, so you’ll learn how to choose menus carefully according to guidelines, not absolutes. While studying the tricks of the trade to save money and choose wisely, you’ll be able to plan menus that are satisfying, fulfilling, healthy, and within budget.

“After much research, I decided to attend the Meeting and Event Planning Certificate Program at California State University, Long Beach. All the instructors had an amazing background, with many years of experience in all phases of planning. They taught us all aspects of the business in the 10-week course. At the conclusion of the class, I was able to secure a job in event planning with my instructors’ help and guidance; and I have been in the field for over 3.5 years to date. I suggest anyone interested in the field to take these classes to gain a better understanding of the meetings and event industry, and all it takes to be an event planner!"
