The Excel for Analysts course provides students with the foundational knowledge, skills, and techniques to utilize Microsoft Excel for the purpose of crime analysis. Participants will receive step-by-step training to build basic and advanced Excel templates, create a library of formulas, design charts, and format data based on the specific requirements of crime analysis.
Completion of this program will prepare students for CSULB’s Crime and Intelligence Analysis program and will assist them in becoming qualified candidates for employment in the Crime and Intelligence Analyst profession. Course material can also be applied by analysts in various other fields who want to learn specialized Excel skills.
- How to apply computer skills specifically to crime analysis
- How to create products that include administrative and strategic analysis
- Descriptive statistics and how to present them to different audiences
- How to calculate mean, median, mode, and standard deviation
- How to create data entry forms, pivot tables, and charts
- How to validate data and create validation criteria
