Cybersecurity Program Prepares Grads for Growing Industry

As our personal, professional, financial, and academic worlds move further online every day, cybersecurity has become an essential part of ensuring safety across the digital spaces of the internet. CPIE recently partnered with HackerU to offer the Cybersecurity Professional Program, which features instructors who are leading professionals in this growing industry. Designed for learners coming from a non-technical background—no previous experience in IT or computers is necessary—the program provides students with virtual network environments to practice real-world scenarios, gaining hands-on experience that can qualify them for entry-level positions in the industry. Students can start from scratch, learn the basics, and then progress to in-depth training topics.
Anthony Ram, a recent graduate of the Cybersecurity program, found that the curriculum and instructors became essential components for the challenge he needed to get further ahead on his career path. His first day in class confirmed that, in order to succeed, he was going to have to commit to working hard. From the get-go, his instructor provided a birds-eye view of the program in a global context, noting that the world is in high demand for more cybersecurity analysts, engineers and architects.
“I told myself that I don’t want to mess this up,” Anthony said. “I’m here, and I just want to give him 100%. Any type of task or assignment, I just put my all into it.”
At the end of the program, HackerU provides comprehensive career services for assistance in job and internship placements. Anthony took full advantage of the career services offered to him while he was enrolled in the program. He learned crucial tips like how to present himself in a professional way, and how to craft a well-written job application package that includes a resume, cover letter, and pitch.
“It’s something that allows us to give more about ourselves outside of the resume,” Anthony explained, “and kind of grab their attention.”
That coaching assistance clearly worked. After completing the program, Anthony soon found work as a Junior Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician. Click on the video below to learn about the things that he believes set him apart in his interview.
