American Language Institute Students Showcase Fascinating Global Interests

The American Language Institute (ALI) held a poster fair during International Education Week 2023, where students created visual presentations with short talks on a topic of their choice. Guided through their projects by ALI instructors Lucas Peterson and Chelsea Frazier, the Level 3 students developed skills in listening, speaking, note-taking, and presenting before an audience.
Through these presentations, each student brought a piece of their home countries to The Beach—from Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, to Turkey, Palestine, Ukraine, and many others. A few days before their presentations, the students gathered in their ALI classroom to get ready by drawing, discussing, cutting, pasting, and polishing their posters. The wide variety of subjects included Japanese contemporary art, Korean street foods, wind surfing, travel to Rio de Janeiro, electronic dance music (EDM), Cantonese opera, the Dead Sea, and much more.
Many curious members of the Beach community walked through the poster session on Thursday, November 16 at the CPaCE Building conference center. Read on below to see a few of the ALI students and their posters during the International Education Week event.
