Curriculum and Methods in Teaching Ethnic Studies
Academic Course (University Credit)
Curriculum and Methods in Teaching Ethnic Studies (EDSS 450E) is a 3-unit online course designed for individuals who are interested in the topic to build their knowledge and instructional practice in Ethnic Studies. In addition to learning a new skill set that can help teachers advance their career, passing this course fulfills part of the requirements of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
The course objectives, curriculum materials, instructional strategies, and assessments are specific to teaching Ethnic Studies to a diverse range of students. Reflective practice is based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and state curriculum frameworks. This course results in a letter grade only (A-F).
The online option for this class is offered only the during summer session.
- Classes are completely online via hybrid of synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
- This course has an additional 10-hour fieldwork requirement to work with community organizations. More information will be provided during the first session.
