Certificate Program

This exciting online program, in partnership with The Center for Legal Studies (CLS) by Barbri, is designed to teach legal investigation to those interested in pursuing a new career and those presently working in the legal field. Upon completion of the course, students will be qualified to assist attorneys, paralegals, insurance companies and private businesses, as well as state and federal government agencies, in the process of civil and criminal investigation. Students will also learn how to establish a freelance investigation business. Topics covered within the program include arson investigation, product liability investigation, personal injury and traffic accident forensics, employment accidents, investigation of financial and equity matters, professional malpractice and negligence, skip-tracing, and the role of a legal investigator in preparing for civil and criminal litigation.

4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be provided upon request as a permanent record of one’s attendance, if requested by the last class meeting.

  • Grades are based on completion of six tests, one writing assignment, and class participation/bulletin board submissions
  • Students are expected to engage other classmates by responding to bulletin board assignments
  • Participation in bulletin board assignments will enhance your understanding of the reading material
  • Your final grade will be figured as follows:
    • Six tests worth 50 points each: 60 percent of your grade
    • One writing assignment worth 100 points: 30 percent of your grade
    • Class participation assignments:10 percent of your grade
